The results of Indian keeper-batter Rishabh Pant’s MRI scans of brain and spine are normal. According to reports, the 25-year-old had to undergo plastic surgery to manage his facial injuries, lacerated wounds and abrasions

Pant was badly injured followed a car crash near Roorkee in Uttarakhand, on Friday, December 30 morning. The car that he was driving collided with the divider on Delhi-Dehradun highway when he was traveling from Uttarakhand to Delhi. According to reports, the young cricketer was going home to surprise his mother.

As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, MRI scans of Pant’s ankle and knee have been postponed till Saturday because of pain and swelling. As per the medical bulletin released by Max Hospital in Dehradun, the left-handed keeper-batter is “stable, conscious and oriented”.

The bulletin added that “prima facie, he had sustained multiple abrasions on right-hand forearm and leg, and lacerated wounds over forehead and near eyebrow, and multiple graze abrasions on the back”.

The accident involving Pant happened in the early hours on Friday, as Pant was driving to Roorkee. As per Uttarakhand Police, the cricketer informed them that he dozed off, as a result of which his car hit the divider and caught fire. Pant had to break the glass of the car window to come out of the vehicle.

He was first taken to a local hospital – Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre – where he was treated for impact injuries. Subsequently, he was shifted to Max Hospital in Dehradun, where he is undergoing treatment.

As per BCCI’s official release, “Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun.

“The Board will see to it that Rishabh receives the best possible medical care and gets all the support he needs to come out of this traumatic phase,” the statement added.

As per a report in Cricbuzz, Pant could soon be flown to Delhi or Mumbai where the next course of treatment will be decided. It is also being reported that before he left for Derhadun, a friend of Pant advised him not to drive alone. However, the Delhi cricketer insisted that he would be able to manage.

Pant has not been picked in the Indian squad for the T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka at home, which begins on January 3. He was supposed to head to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for strength and conditioning ahead of the Test series against Australia. However, all that plans are on the backburner for now.
