Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the Number one bowler in tests in the latest ICC Rankings issued on Wednesday. James Anderson of England is ten rating points behind Ashwin, who had a haul of six for 91 in the fourth Test that ended in a tie while had 25 wickets to lead the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

How are Indians fairing in the ICC Rankings

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah who missed the whole series due to injury has dropped down to number 7 place. Axar Patel,  a left-arm spinner from India, moved up six spots to number 28 among bowlers. He also advanced to fourth place on the list of all-rounders, which is headed by Ashwin and Jadeja. Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant are the only batters in the top 10 at number 10 and 9 respectively.

Virat Kohli, the superstar Indian batsman, rose seven spots to 13th after winning Player of the Match against Australia in the fourth Test.

Shubhman Gill jumped 17 places and has moved to 46th place in the ICC Batting Rankings. Gill scored his maiden hundred at home which helped India draw the match at Ahmedabad.

Usman Khawaja has been in tremendous touch since the last year. Khawaja’s score of 180 in the drawn fourth Test against India in Ahmedabad has propelled him two spots to seventh position and a career-best 815 rating points.

Mitchell’s knocks of 102 and 81 in the epic victory over Sri Lanka in Christchurch have helped him reach a career-best eighth position as he touches the 800-point mark for the first time. Angelo Mathews of Sri Lanka is another player to advance in the batting rankings after scoring 47 and 115 to jump from 19th to 17th place.

Limited Over Rankings

Rohit Paudel (up four spots to 55th), Aasif Sheikh (up 16 spots to 62nd), and leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane (up five spots to 21st) are among the Nepali players to advance in the ODI Rankings as a result of their performances in matches of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 in Kirtipur, Nepal.

Najmul Hossain Shanto of Bangladesh rose 68 spots to rank 16 in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings as a result of his three innings of 51, 46, and 47 not out against England at home, which also earned him the Player of the Series award.
