Who will win between Australia and Sri Lanka

The 14th match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 has already begun, and Australia is preparing to face Sri Lanka. The match will take place on Monday, October 16th, 2023, at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The five-time champions have yet to record a victory.

Meanwhile, things haven’t been easy for Sri Lanka, who are also without a victory in this huge competition. It will be interesting to watch which squad wins their first season.

Changes AUS vs SL:

Alex Carey and Cameron Green were both omitted from Australia’s most recent games, but not due to injury. All 14 Australian players are now available for selection, with Travis Head remaining at home in Adelaide but expected to join the squad later in the competition.

Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka’s skipper, has been sidelined with a thigh injury acquired in their previous encounter against Pakistan. The ICC has accepted replacement player Chamika Karunaratne’s inclusion in the squad, which means he will almost certainly play against Australia on Monday.

Due to a hamstring injury, the Lankans had to leave champion allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga out of their squad and have placed their hope in 20-year-old spinner Dunith Wellalage. Sri Lanka, along with mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana, will be hoping for a turn in the Lucknow pitch.

Last Clash in ODI for AUS vs SL

The last time these two teams faced in this style was in June-July 2022, when Australia toured the island nation. Sri Lanka won the five-match One-Day International series 3-2, but Australia won the last match, a low-scoring four-wicket victory in Colombo. On that occasion, it was an undefeated 43-run stand between Alex Carey and Cameron Green, who were both left out of Australia’s XI in their 134-run loss to South Africa on Thursday.
